AWARD 1  MISSION IMPOSSIBLE PUPPY




EXERCISE 1: NAME RECOGNITION

Your puppy should immediately react to hearing its name, even with distractions.

This exercise will be carried out on lead.


EXERCISE 2: OWNER RESPONSIBILITIES

Owners should demonstrate knowledge of Identification tags, micro-chipping, vaccinations, flea and parasite treatments, collar and leads, scooping poop and always carrying poop bags, teething and chewing, house training, socialization and basic health issues.

This exercise will be carried out in a group discussion, but questions will be asked.


EXERCISE 3: HANDLE AND EXAMINE

Owners will be asked to handle and examine different parts of their pup from teeth to tail, such as opening the dogs mouth, picking up their feet and looking in ears, with only mild wiggling from the dog.

This exercise will be carried out on lead.


EXERCISE 4: A BASIC RECALL

No wait required an assistant will hold your dog. The owner will be asked to take 5 steps away from their dog then recall it back to them with positive reinforcement. The lead should then be attached, again with positive reinforcement.

This exercise can be done with no distractions.


EXERCISE 5: EYE CONTACT

Owner will hold a treat in one hand near to their dogs nose. Pup should then "check in" make eye contact with the owner as if to ask nicely in a controlled calm manner if they may have the treat.

This exercise will be carried out on lead and the treat should be of high value.


EXERCISE 6: LOOSE LEAD WALKING

Pup should be able to walk on lead next to the owner for at least 15 paces without the lead going tight.

This exercise will be carried out with no distractions.


EXERCISE 7: SIT OR DOWN WITH DURATION

Pup should show some self control by staying in one position without moving. The owner will be asked to move 2 steps away for 20 seconds then return back to their dog to praise and release.

This exercise will be carried out on lead (but placed on the ground next to the pup) and with no distractions.


EXERCISE 8: TAKE IT, GIVE IT

Owner should give an article of their own choice (not food) to their dog and then ask the dog to give it back to the saying "give or leave it" The dog should give the article back straight away, with no resistance. 


ALTHOUGH THIS IS A TEST, STAY CALM, HAVE FUN WITH YOUR DOG AND ALWAYS REINFORCE GOOD BEHAVIORS
